Professor Renée Leon PSM FIPAA, new IPAA National President
Professor Renée Leon PSM FIPAA, Vice-Chancellor and President of Charles Sturt University and National President, IPAA
IPAA is delighted to announce Professor Renée Leon PSM FIPAA, Vice-Chancellor and President of Charles Sturt University has taken on the role of IPAA National President effective 1 July 2022.
Professor Leon’s expertise in leadership, extensive experience in Commonwealth and State public administration and ongoing commitment to IPAA positions her to assume this important role, most recently held by Dr Gordon de Brouwer PSM FIPAA.
In accepting this role, Professor Leon notes, “I am honoured to have this opportunity to continue the fine work of the IPAA, and to support the vital role the public service performs for governments and communities.”
Professor Leon holds a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws from the Australian National University and a Master of Laws from the University of Cambridge. She was awarded a Public Service Medal in 2013 for outstanding service to public administration and law in leadership roles in the Australian Capital Territory and the Commonwealth. Professor Leon is a Fellow of the Institute of Public Administration Australia, an Adjunct Professor at the University of Canberra and a member of Chief Executive Women Australia.
IPAA welcomes Professor Leon as National President and looks forward to working with her to further the objectives of the National Strategic Plan 2021-2025 through speaking out as the voice of the public sector, expanding partnerships and fostering excellence and professionalism in public service.
