Meeting the dramatic surge in JobSeeker claims: Kathryn Campbell AO CSC
Kathryn Campbell AO CSC, Secretary of the Department of Social Services being interviewed for WORK WITH PURPOSE.
Yesterday, Kathryn Campbell AO CSC, Secretary of the Department of Social Services, was interviewed for the WORK WITH PURPOSE podcast.
In a short but expansive interview Kathryn spoke about the response of her Department to the dramatic surge in JobSeeker payment claims by Australians who have lost their jobs as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
The Department has rapidly increased staff numbers and improved its IT system to sustain the high volume of claims: 500,000 in the last 5 weeks.
To put these numbers into context Kathryn said:
‘We’d processed 500,000 claims in the entire year up to March. So in the last 5 weeks we’ve done a year’s worth of work’.
WORK WITH PURPOSE is produced in partnership between contentgroup and IPAA ACT, with the support of the Australian Public Service Commission.
