STATEMENT FROM DR GORDON DE BROUWER PSM, IPAA NATIONAL PRESIDENT

Dr Gordon de Brouwer PSM

Dr Gordon de Brouwer PSM, IPAA National President, hosting the 2022 Frances Adamson Oration

Having accepted the role of Secretary for Public Sector Reform, I will be stepping down as National President of IPAA on 30 June 2022.

I have been honoured to serve as President, speaking as a voice for the public sector across Australia and promoting the value of public service.  It has been a pleasure to work with IPAA Divisions and staff on initiatives that have strengthened the focus and professionalism of the organisation. This includes the launch of the 2021-2025 Strategic Plan, which provides a framework for IPAA to realise its vision of enriching offerings, building connections at national and global levels, and increasing its membership across Australia. I encourage IPAA to continue the work of supporting the public sector and enhancing public administration.

A highlight from my term as President has been the establishment of the Francis Adamson Oration, to be delivered annually on United Nations Public Service Day. The inaugural Oration was delivered by Her Excellency Frances Adamson AC, Governor of South Australia in Canberra on 23 June 2022 and it was my privilege to host Her Excellency at such a special event.

IPAA’s success would not be possible without the dedication and passion of our staff, the support of our partners, and unwavering commitment from our Divisions and members. I thank all of you, with special thanks to my fellow National Council members who provide generously of their time to serve our profession.  I wish them, and my successor, the very best. I am proud to have been the president of IPAA National, an organisation that has truly solid foundations and I look forward to seeing it go from strength to strength.
